Community Event - Wave the Waders Good Bye

  • Broome Bird Observatory Crab Creek Rd Broome 6725 Australia (map)

Come Wave the Waders Goodbye!

Did you know that Broome’s incredible migratory shorebirds travel all the way the Arcric to breed and they will fly for 5-6 days not stopping to land on wetlands near China to ‘refuel’ and then fly another 4-5 days to get to where they breed.

Join us at Broome Bird Observatory on April 4th to witness this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon as thousands of shorebirds take flight from Roebuck Bay—Australia’s Shorebird Capital!

  • FREE community event with a BBQ fundraiser to support BBO.

  • Meet our shorebird researchers and experts who will share the secrets of these globe-travelling waders.

  • Bring a picnic rug or camp chair and enjoy an afternoon in one of Broome’s most spectacular settings.

Come for the birds, stay for the BBQ, and be part of this unforgettable farewell to our feathered travelers!
